Fairfield is bringing middle school students together this school year with Middle School Meet-ups, a new series of free, phone-limited events designed to give 6th–8th graders a chance to connect, make friends, and have fun. This concept emerged directly from the Fairfield Youth Needs Assessment, where more than 100 middle and high school students shared what they want and need from their community. One student captured it simply: “We don’t want to be on our phones all the time. We want to connect in person.”
From September through April, local youth serving organizations, libraries, faith communities, recreation programs, and cultural organizations will host nine different experiences for middle schoolers- giving students welcoming, low-pressure places to be themselves, try something new, and connect with other kids. The series is supported by title sponsor Catalyst CT and participating community organizations and reflects Fairfield’s commitment to creating a community where young people feel connected, supported, and that they belong. The series kicks off September 26th at Fairfield Public Library.
